I disappeared again!

I cant seem to do this regularly, last year i had so much time, and now this year, people want me!
lest see, what do i have to fill you in on…
I was exhbitied in LA again, and LACDA again as part of the “Electron Saloon”. If you were there, and saw the gas mask peice, that was mine =)
I got enough “likes” in the see:me “art takes Times Square” competion, so look out for the creepy coffee-stained snow white in June.
My husky has recoved from his surgery, hopefully wont have to do that again.

My work has taken a darker twist, a new series begain int he last week of Febuary called “the prophecies of pain”. I’m going to find it hard to find someone who will exhibit them, as they are rather dark and painful.

my fairytale series is almost finished, I have three left, 2 to create and on to re-shoot. and for the record i hate re-shooting.

oh, and I also tried to make my american dream come alive again, but my visa application got rejected. bugger.

while i’m waiting for the vet…

So, I dispapeared for a few weeks there, i got busy! I can’t belive i actually had things to do!
at the moment my husky is recovering from surgery after having a lump removed on his leg.
Not too long after the last post, on the 18th of January it was my trun to sit through some bushfire worries

but it didnt amount to anything were i was, so i got lucky.

I got exhbited at LACDA (if i already mention that then forgive me, but it was very cool)

I was invited back to exhibit at their “Electron saloon” so i entered that too

i found out that the Smashing punkins chose one of my works as part of their “Imagine Oceania” comp collection =)

and i sold some art work and made some new friends.
and that is all i have time for at the minute

Cameras, creepy-crawlies and cool air

Aaaahhhhhhhh, finally, a sigh of relief. A cool weather change has come through, the temperature has dropped, and I know I will sleep tonight.

However, I will be sparing a thought or two for those in fire affected regions that this change has made worse; with the cool air and overcast sky has come a feriocious wind that is blowing gustly against window and doors, seeping through cracks. Here in the east of Victoria, for the most part are un-affected by fire (for now; temperatures are predicted to soar again on Friday.) But elsewhere I can imagine people are struggling right now. I have sat through and watched the sky grow from grey to red to black before, so I do understand what those people are going through. May they stay safe.

But, other then playing the waiting game, there is nothing more I can say on that matter, so here’s some other things.

The Leech

Saturday was a rather warm day, so myself and model/friend Jessica Hooper and a few others wandered down to one of the local swimming spots to hang out and cool down.

We got into the the delightfully warm (ish) water, and sat down to just enjoy the river.
I then noticed long slug-like things attach to my legs, and figured pretty quick they were leeches. They were HUGE. Look at you little finger, now imagine it grey and wriggling; thats how big the blood-suckers were. But being the only one to see them, the males in our group promtly told me there were no leeches, I was seeing things, and just freaking out over a slug.

hahahah, yeah, sure.
We moved to the opisote bank where the water was deeper, and didnt worry about creepy crawlies again, untill we had to move back to sit near young children that were tired and shaky.

I think felt an itch on the underside of my left leg, went to scratch it, and found somthing long and slimy, somthing the wriggled and moved.

“There is a leech on my leg.”

A brief moment of truiumph that i was right was felt, untill the leech bite began to hurt, and we were all unable to get it off.

I remember the pressure getting tighter as others tried to gently squeeze the leech to make it uncomfortable and fall off, and the pain, like a splinter, searing up the back of my leg.

I also remember a very curious toddler dressed in orange, absolutly stunned by the “snake” on my leg.

Of course, we all give up, and it is decided to burn it off, I stand up, and it practially jumps off.

And then we Instagramed that shit. lol.

There were also lots of frogs swimming about, and pleny of baby carp (fish).

And I got a badly sunburnt back, despite all the sunscreen.

 

Pentax k-30

Finally, a new camera to end all my nikon woes.

I’m sorry if you’re a nikon fan, but the nikon D3000 was a miserable peice of junk.

But i’m quite happy with the test results from the pentax.

I used a pentax *ist DL when I was studying, but i was old, and it grew tired with my hard work load.

the nikon was supposed to be an uprade, but it was a fail.

I wish I could transfer heat through the screen, so the rest of you understood how hot it is right now.

Here, in regional victoria, an 5pm, its bloody 44 degrees (celcius) (or 111.2). the temperature is still rising. They said it would only be 39 where I reside. Liars.

I’m still waiting; waiting for the temperature to drop; and the media to stop trying to scare us all to death about fires (yes, it is very serious, but it’s not breaking news that its hot. We know)

Though, I do like to know whats going on around me, and today, the CFA (Country Fire Authority) found out their site and app, designed to inform people about fires in the area…. DOESN’T work.

One would have assumed that that is the kind of thing you test before claiming it works and that it will help…

I kinda’ miss the good old days of listening to the local radio, but that doesnt keep as up-to-date as it used to.

And as much as I wish I could, I cannot think of anyting but the weather.

Although, I much more relaxed now that the three young children I had to mind today have gone home; the house has cooled down because there’s no small, active bodies running around, no more one year olds crying and walking, no more toddlers stealing, or a six year old’s questions. Trying to explian that I dont know the science of evolution in great detail is very frustraiting….

And with that, the wicked witch melted.

 

In with the new, out with the old

Hello, from warm sunny Australia.

not that it has any right to be sunny and warm.

Today I am begining my promise to write more, to share more, to have a louder voice.

However, I dont get to start the way I orginally wanted to; life, it seems, has thrown a curve ball.

As it stands all of my “this year I will…” plans have gone out the window before the day even really started.

Lets begin with the PayPal debarcle….

A new camera is on the cards. The staff at Eating Strawberries Fine art (aka me) decided that the Nikon I posess was not the right equipment for the job. So after some reaserch and drooling, and Pentax k-3o was agreed upon. A twin lens kit was found for under 1,ooo AUS$, and the excitment grew.

Then PayPal decided I didnt exsist.

The transaction failed, with the money originally leaving my account. Anger flaring, messages were sent off in every direction. The money came back shortly after, and PayPal calimed I had no security codes, and the store claimed I didnt have a vaild address.

Yet, everything was working fine on Friday….

so 24 hours later, still no word from PayPal as to WTF??? and I still have to deal with a shitty nikon.

The Death in the family….

A family friend, a proffesional medieval knight at that, had been battling cancer for ages. no longer having an appetite, digestive system and bone mass, he finaly gave in, and passed away at 8am 1/1/13. the stubborn bugger, according to his medical records should have dies ages ago, but he made sure no-one could forget him, and passed New Years Day. that makes the mood around here very dark.

So that is how 2013 begain for me. Angry and dark and frustrating. hopefully that is not a sign for the rest of the year.

HOWEVER, there are some good things happening.

I have work being shown in Los Angeles on the 10th, at the LACDA (LA center for digital art) as part of their Snap to Grid: the UN-Juried Exhibit, so keep you eyes open for this work

If anybody goes, take some pics for me!

Im also working on being shown in New York again, as I was shown last year in “Art takes Times Square” with this peice (the one on the right)

Wow, it’s been a while….

It’s strange how sometimes, out of the blue, things happen.

Today, I was folowing a stream on facebook about the pros and cons of blogspot and here (wordpress), and then I remebered… ‘Oh yeah, I have one of them…’

So I logged on… for the first time in a year it would seem!

So just for the record, I am still here, and still working.

As of the new year, I promise to document my work and life better! lol

For now, I will just wish you happy holidays, and have a wicked new year!

and i will be back, to tell you about all the exciting things that have happened, and that will be happening!
